Ainda antes de partir de férias, uma palavra para a Liberdade de Expressão, que me interpela a propósito do post sobre o sobreaquecimento do João Pereira Coutinho. Para ilustrar o seu cepticismo acerca do propalado aquecimento global, João Miranda usa dois gráficos do United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Mais do que me pôr agora a discutir se há aceleração ou não, prefiro citar a que é, de acordo com Andrew Weaver, um dos autores desse estudo, uma das principais conclusões do mesmo:
"Viewed as a whole, these results indicate that observed global warming over the past 100 years is larger than our current best estimates of natural climate variations over the last 600 years. More importantly, there is evidence of an emerging pattern of climate response to forcings by greenhouse gases and sulfate aerosols in the observed climate record. This evidence comes from the geographical, seasonal and vertical patterns of temperature change. Taken together, these results point towards a human influence on global climate."
Pois é. Os gráficos são bonitos, mas faz sempre falta quem os saiba ler.
